A compass provides a direction, but never a destination. So where do we go when we’re feeling lost? Are you confused on the path paved for you? Maybe even weary from your travels and fearful to plunge into a new atmosphere? 

I know the ache of feeling lost. In this season where nothing looks the way I imagined, the Lord has been stripping away my expectations and teaching me to trust His guidance.

When you’re feeling lost, there’s difficulty, turbulence, and plenty of tears. The journey is never straight cut, but often in hills and valleys. Yet, every step of the way, I have seen God’s goodness, and you will too. 

Unlike a compass, God gives both a destination and a direction. He can be trusted to show us the Way.

I bring these prayers for the girls who feel lost in their current circumstance. No matter the situation, I hope they help you create a space where the Spirit can come speak and minister to you.

When You Feel Lost at Sea

My God, I feel lost at sea. Shipwrecked and abandoned. Everything around me is tiresome and leaves me drowning. But Jesus, You are the One who walks on water. When Peter fell, You helped him immediately. How I need Your hand to reach out to me in this restless sea. As the dark sky looms over me, let me look to the heavens. There I will find the stars, not to guide me, but to remind me that You are the God who keeps His promises. I can trust that in the harshest pain and depression, You are with me.

Listen: Ask the Lord where He is in your storm. Where is the Lighthouse at night?

When You Feel Lost and Unseen

Lord, may I remember that You guide me and You see me. You have Your loving gaze upon me all of my life. From the time I was in my mother’s womb until now. You have my days planned in your book and in each chapter, You see me. You see my pain, my confusion, and my heartache. And, You have compassion towards me. I am always seen by my Father and He is always there right beside me.

Listen: Ask the Lord to remind you how He has guided you in the past. Thank Him for His faithfulness both now and to come!

_{When You Feel Lost and Lack Trust}

God, I repent for trusting in my own abilities and fearing Your sovereignty. You are above me and know all. Your ways are not my ways and You know where the path will lead. So when I am lost, let me look to the heavens, trusting I will find You. You will guide me. I do not have to guide myself. I can trust in You with all things. Cleanse my heart and restore a right spirit within me. I wish to trust the God who brought forth life with mere words.

When You Feel Lost in the Valley

You are my shepherd and You guide me to green pastures so I may rest. In times of trouble, I can trust that You protect me from the evil one. When I am lost, You leave the 99 for the one. I can trust You will guide me where my soul needs to be. You are with me, and fear can not conquer me. I will remain in You, in the valley, and on the hill top. For you are the God of both.

Listen: Ask the Lord to reveal your fears, insecurities, and anxieties. Where is He trying to take you to find rest?

When You Feel Lost in a Fiery Trial

God, I am facing something out of my hands. I have no control and I am fearful of being burned up and left as dust in my place. Though I know, I follow the God who stands amongst men in a fiery furnace. You were by their side when they needed You most, and they were untouched. Let me remember that trials are how You build character and produce hope. Create what You wish for me in this circumstance. But give me boldness to proclaim Your goodness throughout it—even when it feels hard.

When You Feel Lost and Need Strength

Father, I am weary. I have used up my energy and resources, and I am in need of Your limitless supply. You say I can soar on wings like eagles and not grow faint. Give me the strength because I so desperately need You! You are my strength and my song, and I declare your goodness for all my days. So when I am too tired to lift my hands and give you praise, hear my whisper and my cry. I wish to praise You all the days of my life!

My Prayer For You 

I pray this list grants you peace and a beautiful time with our Father. He is good even when you feel lost. He is our Beacon, our Path, and our God. We can always trust Him. Return to this post whenever you feel lost, and remember that you are not alone.
