8 Joyful Scriptures to Express Gratitude this Thanksgiving

Gratitude is a sweet offering that you can freely offer to God this Thanksgiving holiday. As you gather with friends and loved ones, or opt to have a chill movie-day at home, what matters most is the heart. With thankful hearts of praise, we can focus on God’s awesome splendor and His magnificent sacrifice for us through His son, Jesus Christ.

The Bible says that our God who has not withheld His only Son from us will graciously give us all things (Romans 8:32). Oh, how He deserves our gratitude! Yes, life has its share of demands, but God is faithful to guide us through them as a loving Father.

Even with the tasty meals and favorite pastimes, God is right there in the midst of our celebrations. Deuteronomy 8:10-20 was a reminder to the children of Israel to never forget God or become haughty after they’ve enjoyed themselves to the full. Times are a bit different now, but the principle remains the same. In all things, be grateful to God who makes all joy possible.

Now here’s 8 of our favorite scriptures to help you express gratitude to God this Thanksgiving:

“Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” — Psalms 100: 2-3
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” — Colossians 3:17
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” — Hebrews 13:15
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” — Colossians 3:15
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed, I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.” — Jonah 2:9
“We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.” — Revelations 11:17
“Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.” — Psalms 103:1
