She declares:
“Any of you who are going to Beyoncé’s concert, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus, how dare you call yourself a Christian!”
“I don’t care what pastor you got that’s OK with it, I don’t care what pastor you got that think it’s cool, I don’t care what pastor you got that sing along to they song because they…want some clout.”
“Why you think that man (Jay-Z) call himself Jay Hova, it was short for Jehovah. When a witch has a coven it’s normally a small thing, witches’ covens are normally three to seven people. When it becomes thousands, it’s called a hive. Ya’ll a part of that lady’s beehive? And you call yourself a Christian?”

Tiphani Montgomery Boldly Talks Beyoncé
Tiphani Montgomery is not the first person to denounce Beyoncé on a public platform. Albeit, many do shy away from making negative statements about “Queen Bey” for fear of alienating their audiences, losing profits, or becoming blackballed in their industries. As a matter of fact, there’s even wild stories on the web from ex-staff claiming that Beyoncé put evil curses on them for stepping out of line.
While Tiphani Montgomery is likely the first to coin the nickname, “baalyonce,” she’s not the only figure to claim that Beyoncé is not just a non-Christian, but occultic.
So, why is this event significant?
Well, it is the first time that a minister who commands her own level of online influence has openly denounced Beyoncé in such a convicting and divisive manner.
It was shockingly disruptive as the online pushback naturally exposed misdirected affections and idolatrous worship for Beyoncé that should be reserved for Jesus Christ alone.
It was more than a rebuke. It was an alarm.
Apparently speaking only to Christians, and not directly to Beyoncé, Tiphani’s words sounded an alarm that was heard throughout the Christian spaces on social media.
This same alarm triggered debates and much-needed conversations about the tolerance of idolatry, witchcraft, covenants, and “mixture” that oppose the word of God within the body of Christ.
Many buckle under the fear of being “canceled.” Interestingly, Tiphani remained hotly steadfast in her call as a prophet to deliver the message of truth.
Not only did Montgomery refuse to digress or recant–but she followed up her social media pages with in-depth teachings on covenants, curses, spiritual warfare, and recommended readings.
Awakening to Beyoncé and Idolatry
For years, culture has deemed Beyoncé “untouchable.” Now, many believers are conducting their own research about the biblical topics of deliverance, idolatry, and witchcraft.
Some users later apologized and sided that Tiphani was indeed telling the truth about Beyoncé–even if her delivery felt “harsh.”
Preacher and teacher, Jackie Hill-Perry eventually shared an insightful, biblical teaching about her experiences with the Holy Spirit, and the repercussions of idolizing Beyoncé or any person.
Other Christian creatives like Ezekiel Azonwu used spoken word to uphold Tiphani’s remarks and warn believers.
The Prophet’s Responsibility
The bulk of viewers took offense to Tiphani Montgomery’s razor-sharp rebuke that seemed “mean.” Some also criticized that Montgomery could have offered a prayer for Beyoncé’s salvation instead. Others felt she should have chosen kindness and more compassionate words.
We know that the biblical mandate of a prophet is to speak and deliver God’s message. This can take many expressions, and even in the Bible, the masses have notoriously taken offense to prophets’ and their warnings from the Lord:
“Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them. Yet they did not obey Me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.
“Therefore you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not obey you. You shall also call to them, but they will not answer you. So you shall say to them, ‘This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God nor receive correction. – Jeremiah 7:25-28
Without fear of public opinion, Tiphani Montgomery may have fulfilled her prophetic responsibility. She warned and rebuked the body of Christ to bring conviction of sin that can lead to godly repentance.
“Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.” – Isaiah 58:1

The Five-Fold Ministry
Perhaps, the greatest result of this online debacle is the renewed focus on the five-fold ministry.
“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11-13
Unfortunately, many Christians are not familiar with the workings of the different offices within the five-fold ministry. Misguided expectations on how ministers operate can create a monolith. The reality is that all Christians (and ministers) have unique gifts, graces, personalities, and propensities. Even still, we are all members of the same body in Christ.
The purpose of the five-fold ministry was evident: while the internet was outraged over the prophet’s warning, the teacher came to break down the same message into understandable pieces.
The Teacher and the Prophet
Jackie Hill-Perry released a teaching on the exact same topic as Tiphani, but with the ease and grace of a Teacher. For this reason, Perry received much more positive feedback online. The prophet on the other hand, exercised boldness to speak up for the truth (2 Corinthians 13:8).
Different graces accomplish the same result to glorify God and build up His people. We should be wise when looking at different expressions. When it comes to the Gospel, the saints need each other:
“After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.” – 1 Corinthians 3:5-9
Revival is Coming
Revival happens when we humble ourselves to acknowledge our sinful ways, repent, and cry out for God’s mercy. (2 Chronicles 7:14) We can only do this when we’re made aware of ours sins, especially the ones we’ve become desensitized to.
Hard conversations are vital to our maturity as Christians. Idolatry, witchcraft, and compromise have been rampant in the church for too long. But now, God is employing every means necessary to open our eyes. People are even getting deliverance.
These events have even taken place in close proximity to the Asbury Revival. God is working through His church to stir revival in the hearts of people. The middle ground is disappearing and we cannot identify as Christians while straddling the fence of God and the world.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. – 1 Timothy 2:1-4
