Christian Podcasts to Watch | Buku Ibraheem of “God Is My Creative Director,” Reminds Us Who’s Really in Charge

On our list of top Christian podcasts to watch is God is My Creative Director, (GIMCD), hosted by Buku Ibraheem. The recent surge of podcasts on platforms like YouTube and Spotify has let new, and faith-centered voices rise to the top with fresh perspectives and transformative conversations. GIMCD is a favorite and no exception to that trend.

Spotlighting women and men artists, and entrepreneurs on her platform, Buku centers her conversations with them on God. It is a beautiful exchange that invites listeners into testimonies of God’s undeniable power and influence in our lives. These poignant reminders show us the value of seeking His purpose. Even more special is how each guest is encouraged to say a prayer at the end of their interview.

Buku leads her guests to reflect on their journeys with God because, as she states online“in the beginning, God created and that’s exactly what this show is inspired by. God is the Ultimate Creator and we believe that all of our ideas should start and end with Him.”

In an introductory LinkedIn post about the podcast, Ibraheem writes:

“…I told God that I wanted every idea I have to originate from Him first. His response? “Then make me your Creative Director.” This left a lasting impression on me because growing up, the church rarely acknowledged the creative nature of God. This revelation is what birthed God is my Creative Director, a show that invites creatives to have faith-inspired conversations about how they partner and collaborate with the best to ever do it.”

With the encouragement of her best friend, Victoria Adesanmi, Interior Designer and Founder of Aesthetics Studios, Buku gives her audience a deeper glimpse into her walk with God, and the hurdles she overcame to embrace the vision He gave her for the podcast.

Like those hidden-gem movies or TV shows you don’t discover until months or years later, this podcast is one you’ll wish you had found sooner. Since listening to God is my Creative Director, I’ve personally learned that a relationship with God is the most important foundation to maintain on Earth.

In season one of GIMCD, Grammy-nominated artist, Josh Levi speaks about redirecting our tendency to seek validation from others, to seek it from God:

“There’s so much freedom, there’s so much power, and there’s so much peace in replacing that energy towards God, as opposed to towards those things that don’tthere’s no fulfillment…it doesn’t last, there’s no longevity. Placing your validation, approval, and identity, like your self-view of yourself, in God is the most powerful thing.”

God constantly reminds His children that true validation comes from Himnot people. In a world that deceives us into seeking approval through likes or applause, Jesus assures us in the Bible that His approval is worth far more:

“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10)

“For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” (John 12:43)

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)

Celebrity photographer, Blair Caldwell also discusses his journey as a believer in the entertainment industry:

“I know that I have the talent, I know I have the drive, the heart, I know I have it. [I just lost it]; you know, at some point I just kinda–being a little over-excited about the people maybe–like placing some of these people as idols. When I thought I was just excited to shoot them, but they was actually people that I was idolizinginstead of doing that, I’ve learned from that now,” Caldwell says.

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” (Matthew 6:24)

Olamide Olowe, CEO of Topicals, shares her entrepreneurial journey and how doors began to open as the vision God gave her started to unfold. She remained grounded in prayer throughout her path. “I never want money to use me—I want to use money for God’s glory,” she says. For her, business has always been about purpose over profit.

She reflects on the nature of creativity, drawing from a powerful saying: “Ideas are like spirits—they land on many.” To her, it’s a reminder that inspiration is abundant, but it is up to us to say yes and act.

Olamide shared her doubts about her products and packaging before the launch—concerns that, in hindsight, proved unnecessary given the success she experienced after going to market. “Don’t get in your own way, thinking you know everything. Pride doesn’t always look like boastfulness,” Olowe asserts.

She continues, “a lack of trust in God is pride…a lack of trust in the highest power is arrogance…I try my best not to even worry about situations because I don’t know the full script, I don’t know what God wrote, I’m just a character in the story,.” Scripture repeatedly connects self-reliance to eventual downfall:

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.” (Proverbs 3:5-7)

“Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)

GIMCD is truly a podcast that will inspire your faith in God, and we are excited to see all that God has in store for the next season.
