“What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.” Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 (NLT)
This letter is for the believer who has yet to celebrate themselves:
Dear striving heart,
You are amazing! And you’ve come a long way.
How much more do we criticize where we are in life than affirm how far we’ve come? There is something in us that says, I can be better–I should be farther in life… But what if you are exactly in the season God wants you to be in?
Through Ecclesiastes, Solomon talks to us about the importance of seasons. Because of what we’re exposed to in society, it is easy for us to try to rush through experiences, ultimately causing us to miss God.
As a believer, the best thing we can do for our peace of mind in every season is invest in our relationship with God. It is in our intimacy with the Father that purpose is birthed and begins to bloom through our gifts and talents. When we become consumed with the desires of God, our timeline for certain things to happen dissipate, because we serve an eternal God!
God has made everything beautiful for its own time. This means the accomplishments you are living in this very moment deserve their time to shine. Do not despise small beginnings! Every step you take in the direction God has mapped out for you is worthy of acknowledgement.
It’s okay to enjoy where you are. To appreciate life and all we’ve been through to get to where we are today is to accept the gifts of God!
So, when you are thanking God for all he’s done, don’t forget to celebrate all that He is doing through YOU.
