Salvation is a gift we have to choose to unwrap ourselves. But for celebrities like Blac Chyna, who gave her life to Jesus Christ and publicly became a Christian–it comes with controversy.
Blac Chyna, who now goes by her real name, Angela RenĂ©e White, rose to fame, after appearing in Kanye West’s 2010 “Monster” music video. She later became known for her public relationships with Tyga and Rob Kardashian. Over the years, the “video vixen” has been known for her body image as a model, influencer, and socialite.
On March 13th, Blac Chyna posted a video on Instagram to all 16 million of her followers featuring herself in a gown at the doctor’s office undergoing the process of dissolving her face fillers and silicone injections. Since then, she’s had a series of posts sharing her journey “back to Angela,” helping other women avoid dangerous enhancements.
Overall, Chyna was met with positive feedback from her fanbase that has historically hailed her enhancements. But, the entrepreneur dropped a bomb showing the reason for her sudden changes. A video surfaced of Blac Chyna being baptized in a swimming pool, and it took the hip-hop world by storm, securing over 6 million views in just five days.
Despite such a praiseworthy act, the tone regarding Blac Chyna’s changes turned quite negative and skeptical. Despite the recent upload, Chyna captions that she was actually baptized in May of last year on her birthday.
Questions are circulating about the genuineness of Blac Chyna’s turn to Jesus Christ and its timing. Christians are especially proud of what seems to be a radical deliverance for Angela “Blac Chyna” White. And since then, she’s had a “demonic” tattoo removed and quit her pornographic OnlyFans account. Some reports say the page earned the ex-dancer over 240 million dollars in just three years.
“I’m kind of past that,” she recently told the Daily Mail. “It is one of those things where I did what I needed to do at that moment because of the circumstances I was in. Besides, with me being baptized, that’s just not what God will want me to do. It’s kind of degrading.”
Given Chyna’s star status, news of her recent lifestyle change is no doubt a shock to some, but she isn’t the only social media starlight to make a declaration for Jesus Christ recently.
M.I.A. had a supernatural encounter that led her to become a born again Christian. Justin Bieber, now a follower of Christ, sold all the rights to his music. And early this year, rapper NBA Young Boy apologized for leading his fans astray with his music in a remorseful interview with Billboard before announcing his plans to join the Church of Latter Day Saints.
If you believe in Jesus, there shouldn’t be a question as to the times we are living in. Things are getting less gray and the saturation of existence is being dialed up until it is only black or white.
With Blac Chyna making a stance for God and facing criticism for the video of her baptism, it leaves this question: The world or your soul? (Matthew 16:26).
We’d say salvation is always worth the critiques, mockery, or condemnation. The above influencers combine for a staggering 300+ million followers, but have changed their ways to follow One. Jesus. More and more celebrities are trading their wealth and fame to carry their crosses for Jesus and it’s a sight to see.
Let’s uphold and intercede for Angela White who has distanced herself from “Blac Chyna,” and the many others stars that desire to follow the same path to light and freedom in Christ. Salvation is free, but following Jesus Christ calls for sacrifice. Influencers like “Blac Chyna” have accepted the cost…will you?
